NYC Memorial Planned for Lucid News Co-Founder Ken Jordan
Ken Jordan, the co-founder and editorial director of Lucid News, will be remembered by friends and family at a gathering in New York City this month. Jordan died unexpectedly on May 12, 2024 leaving this news service as his legacy. He believed in the transformative power of psychedelics for healing and the importance of global psychedelic communities. As a journalist and editor, Jordan passionately believed in the importance of accurate and balanced information about psychedelics.
Prior to co-founding Lucid News in 2020, Jordan co-founded several trailblazing organizations including the media site Reality Sandwich, the Evolver consciousness network, and the Alchemists Kitchen, a NYC botanical dispensary. Ken was also an early online media pioneer who led the launch of the web’s first music zine and digital music store SonicNet.com in 1995.
Jordan was a pioneer and leader of the psychedelic moment and a member of several cultural communities. A celebration of his life will take place at his spiritual home, St. Mark’s Church in-the-Bowery. Located at 131 E 10 Street in the East Village neighborhood of Manhattan, St. Mark’s has supported artists since the 19th century including Edward Steichen, Carl Sandburg and Patti Smith.
The memorial for Jordan, which is open to the public, will take place on Thursday, December 19, from 5:30-8:00 pm. Doors will open at 5:00 pm. Jordan’s family welcomes people to remember him with stories, testimonials, music, and poetry in a spirit true to his life. Organizers of the event ask that participants please RSVP. They extend their gratitude to Danspace for making gathering possible and to Michael Robinson for designing a flier for the event.
Jordan’s immediate family are also grateful to those who have generously contributed to their Family Fundraiser and to the Lucid News Funding Campaign which supports the nonprofit Lucid News Community Media and the ongoing reporting Jordan cared so deeply about.
