Support Lucid News Community Media
Dear Readers,
The psychedelic ecosystem is at a crossroads. For much of the last decade, clinical professionals, advocacy organizations, health care companies, and the press have been preparing the public to expect the arrival of safe, legal psychedelic-assisted therapy by 2025. The FDA’s rejection of MDMA-assisted therapy hit pause on those plans, and now the road ahead is being redefined. So, what’s next? Lucid News Community Media is here to help chart the course and host the conversation.
Lucid News Community Media is a new nonprofit organization founded by seasoned psychonauts. It funds news reporting, opinion pieces, and educational information about psychedelics created by Lucid News staff and contributors. LNCM was launched this summer to succeed the for-profit media company established in 2020 by the late Ken Jordan, Mareesa Stertz, Faye Sakellaridis, and Ann Harrison aka Annie Oak. Planetwork is our fiscal sponsor.
We’re on a mission to provide trustworthy, accessible information about psychedelics. We do this by publishing online news and educational content designed to support an informed public and professionals in the field. With community support from philanthropic readers and responsible corporate citizens, we will expand our online news service, Lucid News, our educational website Psychedelic U, and develop new programs to support an informed psychedelic future.
As recent developments in the field demonstrate, there is a pressing need for independent journalism that fairly explains the complex and nuanced variables impacting the integration of psychedelics into society. We know people don’t think there’s a business model for media. But we invite you to rebelliously co-create with us. These stories must be told clearly to empower and reflect the ideas and concerns of practitioners working with psychedelics.
Lucid News is a community of writers. Since 2020, we have published more than 400 reported stories and nearly 200 opinion pieces, which are offered for free without a paywall. Our professional journalists believe that readers deserve transparent, balanced reporting about psychedelic research, healing, policy, business and culture. Our opinion writers are experts in their fields, sharing years of knowledge and earned experience. We ask informed and sometimes challenging questions that consider both the risks and potentials of these compounds.
We seek to expand our coverage and include a broader range of voices in ways that serve the needs of the emergent psychedelics field. We want to continue to cultivate an inclusive, dynamic community of leaders and thinkers, including the many clinicians and healers whose experience with psychedelic medicines are defining how people engage with these powerful compounds.
To do this work, we need your support. Please make a tax-deductible donation to Lucid News Community Media today or as you consider your year-end gifts. You can also contribute to our work by contacting LNCM Treasurer, Simeon Schnapper and becoming a corporate donor, or reach out to our marketing manager Nicki Adams (nicki@lucid.news) to purchase advertising and sponsored content. Send our editors your opinion pieces, promote community events, alert us to breaking news, and tell us what you want to see covered by contacting Annie Oak Harrison, ann@lucid.news.
The psychedelic future is unwritten. Join our community of discerning readers and writers who are shaping the next chapter of psychedelic healing and culture. Participate in the story as it unfolds in front of us.
